I wonder how to increase recognition of Diamond Open Access in my country (Czech Republic). Perhaps I need to start some botoom up initiative before any kind of political support arises. But I guess I need some tools or tips for that. Could you share some ideas what worked in your country? Or do you probably have some documents that I could use? Like some analysis stating that if the country support Diamond publishing, this is what happens…
Speaking about Lithuania, the main aspect is not a publishing model, but whether this journal is indexed in Scopus and/or Clarivate, and its content is evaluated well during qualitative evaluation done by the Lithuanian Research Council. So, we publish diamond open-access journals which are listed in Q1 in Scopus or Clarivate and are doing better than some other journals that charge APC.
Good morning ! In France, we are working hard on giving better recognition to Diamond OA. One way is indeed to make sure Diamond OA are well indexed in reference directories (hard but feasible). Another way is to lobby decision makers to make statements and adopt policies. It requires a heavy advocacy work that involves institutional leaders. Another aspect is to communicate a lot on the international recognition aspect : the Diamond Action Plan, the Global Summit in Toluca supported by UNESCO, and hopefully the EDCH with the strong support from the European Commission, all of this helps in some countries where Diamond OA activists can trigger the national fearing to be missed out to trigger action. This is a slow process but we made progress during the last few years. I am sure it is also possible in Czech Republic.
