Diamond OA Policy Forum: Africa, Europe & Latin America

The ALMASI project is setting up a new international Policy Forum on Diamond Open Access. The idea is to create a space where policymakers and funders from Africa, Europe, and Latin America can exchange on nonprofit scholarly publishing — from policy priorities and funding approaches to regional challenges and opportunities.

The Forum is meant as a meeting point: international development funders will also be present, and the discussion will focus on how to support more equitable, diverse, and community-led forms of Diamond OA.

The first session will take place on Wednesday, 29 October 2025:

  • 15:00–16:30 UTC
  • 16:00–17:30 CET
  • 17:00–18:30 CAT

This opening meeting will provide:

  • a broad overview of the nonprofit publishing landscape across the three regions,
  • a panel with policymakers highlighting concrete policy and funding practices,
  • a discussion with participants on how the Forum can respond to regional needs.
