LIBER Annual Conference 2026: The Power of Libraries in an Uncertain World (call for proposals)

The 2026 LIBER Annual Conference, “The Power of Libraries in an Uncertain World”, will be hosted by NTNU University Library in Trondheim, Norway from 1 to 3 July 2026.

The research library community is invited to reflect on the crucial role libraries play in protecting fundamental rights and values in times of rapid change and uncertainty. Technological, social, and geopolitical shifts are challenging both institutions and societies, placing research libraries at the very heart of the information ecosystem. As pressure increases and ethical challenges grow, libraries are required to make complex choices that demonstrate responsible and forward-thinking leadership.

Call for proposals

Proposals that showcase innovative and engaging work related to the following themes:

  • Research Data and Knowledge Security
  • Collection Development
  • Working Conditions in Libraries
  • Digital Content and Artificial Intelligence
  • Leadership for Sustainability
  • Changes in Research Assessment
  • Academic Freedom and Access to Knowledge

The deadline for submissions is Monday, 5 January 2026 at 23:59 CET.
