Thank you for starting this important thread @PierreMounier ! Unfortunately in the time that has passed since the original discussion paper was published things have not exactly evolved in a favorable direction for EDIB. I have been following what the https://www.defendresearch.org/ campaign has been doing, but being a broader and US focused intiative I think there would be place for a European-driven initiative or declaration in support of both EDIB in research as well as maintaining the freedom of research in times of political interference. Is there something like this around that I might have missed? I do think setting in place commonly accepted safeguards woud be important within diamond OA publishing, since such publishing is in many countries quite heavily funded through public funds which makes it sensitive to political winds changing.
