The Portuguese Academy of Sciences will host a meeting on Secondary Publication Right on the 5th February 2026 in Lisbon. The event will present and discuss a proposal for the adoption of Secondary Publication Right in Portugal, bringing together representatives from the European Commission, policy makers, legal experts, researchers and civil society organisations.The Secondary Publication Right is a mechanism that grants authors the right to freely share a version of their publicly funded research, namely in open access repositories, ensuring that the results of publicly funded research remain accessible to society as a whole.
